YVR North Runway Lighting Upgrades

The Vancouver Airport Authority is proposing enhancements to the electrical infrastructure for edge lights along the North Runway (Runway 08L-26R) at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The project includes trenching new electrical ducting and pull-pits around the runway perimeter. The Airport Authority anticipates that construction for this proposed project will take place in summer and fall 2024, during the current nightly closure period for the North Runway.


Latest update

July 16, 2024 - The Vancouver Airport Authority intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, the Vancouver Airport Authority is inviting public comments until August 16, 2024 respecting that determination.
July 16, 2024 - A public participation period is underway.
