Grice Bay Parking Lot and Boat Ramp Upgrades

An impact assessment is required to address potential impacts resulting from the Grice Bay parking lot and boat ramp restoration work in the Long Beach Unit of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. This work is expected to improve the condition and lifespan of these assets. Work below the high water mark (including excavation and placement of fill) will be required for boat ramp improvements, and thus a Department of Fisheries and Oceans review will be undertaken for the project. All work below high water will occur during the summer least risk fisheries window, and during low-tide cycles to reduce impacts to marine resources. The work will require use of heavy equipment in the riparian zone, as well as removal of several trees. The anticipated effects and mitigation for this scope of work are expected to be minimal and well understood, thus a Basic Impact Assessment will be undertaken.
