Flood Barrier

The Applicant proposes to construct a flood barrier along the western perimeter of the parking lot at 495 West Waterfront Road, and along a short length of West Waterfront Road, as this area is susceptible to flooding during extremely high tides events, such as a King Tide.

The proposed works comprise the installation of a concrete wall and inter-connecting concrete blocks. It is anticipated that the barrier would be approximately 60 meters long and generally less than 1 meter high. The wall would replace a chain link fence and handrail, which would be mounted on top of the new wall. In some areas the works would require excavation of approximately 0.5 meters, and any soft or unsound soil would be replaced with a crushed granular base.
