Shxw'owhámél First Nation Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Project

The Shxw'owhámél First Nation (the Proponent) is proposing to construct recreational infrastructure on previously developed Shxw'owhámél First Nation Indian Reserve Lands. The proposed Project will feature a new playground to replace existing again playground equipment, a spray park, and a combined slo-pitch and soccer field. The project will also include the installation of a lighting system to allow for greater seasonal access.

The Project would include the following components:

  • Replacement of existing playground with new playground equipment;
  • Construction of a spray park;
  • Development of a combined slo-pitch and soccer field with an associated lighting system;
  • Associated minor clearing works, grading, excavations; and
  • Installation of plumbing, electrical utilities, and associated features.

January 7, 2021 –  Infrastructure Canada issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
