New Fibre Installation

TELUS plans to install underground fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, to all residential homes in 4 communities of Okanagan 1, TteS West Tkemlups, Nooaitch, and Coldwater Indian Band (Pauls Basin 2) in the region of the Thompson-Nicola regional district in the province of British Columbia. The project involves the installation of approximately 120 km (115 km is aerial, 5 km is direct-buried) of fibre optic cable from the existing fibre end points (Vernon, Kamloops) to the cabinet locations in the 4 communities.

This Project is approximately 96% aerial, so the majority of distribution cables (approximately 115km) will be provisioned using existing aerial structures but new structures could be required.

Approximately 5 km of the cable will be direct-buried, by a combination of trenching and using existing conduits, in existing roadway alignments, but will be suspended on support structures to connect to residential homes and businesses.
