Seabird Island Cultural Education, Community Resource Centre and Long-House Project

Seabird Island Band (the Proponent) proposes to construct a new Cultural and Educational Community Resource Centre and Long House (the Project). The Project will serve as a cultural and learning resource centre for all ages of community members, and will be a place of exchanging stories, traditional knowledge, and healing. The project site is currently used as a soccer field with sod grass regularly maintained, and has access to the community infrastructure: water, sewer, and hydro.

Scope of Project Works:

•Construction of an approximately 5600 square foot (520 m2) cultural centre
•Construction of an approximately 7000 square foot (650 m2) long house
•Arts room, community kitchen, carving room and open carving shed
•Two accessible washrooms
•Pow wow grounds
•Round room
