The proposed project

Seaspan propose an expansion of their Vancouver Drydock location, including the expansion of their waterlot by 40m to the west. Physical works include the installation of a work pontoon and two additional drydocks to the west of the existing two drydocks, one located on either side of the existing deep-water outfitting pier. Works include:

  • Two new drydocks, one measuring  approximately 100m x 30m, and the other approximately 55m x 22m
  • Six (6) new steel piles
  • A new work float or "pontoon" measuring 98m x 13m
  • 3 ramps to connect the pier to the work pontoon, and the pontoon to the new drydocks
  • The southward relocation of the existing Seaspan Careen by 40m (the existing drydock located on the west side of the deep water outfitting pier)
  • Other miscellaneous works such as the location of utilities and lights on the new or relocated structures
