Parks Canada Agency Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site Fencing Project

Parks Canada Agency is proposing the construction/replacement of site boundary fencing around the West, North and East perimeter of Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site:

-Fence along CNRL road to plant to be replaced.

-Fence on south country road into site to be replaced and permanent logging gate to be installed at site entrance.

- Fencing along north site entry road to be replaced both sides of road approximately 100 meters past entrance gates.

- Fence will be repositioned 10' within boundary line at all locations for mowing on RMH property, both sides of the fence without seeking adjacent property owner permissions.

- Tree removal and vegetation clearing with heavy machinery will be required prior to fence removal.

September 16, 2026 – Parks Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Parks Canada is inviting public comments until October 16, 2026 respecting that determination.
