Reservoir 1 Gravel Road Construction and Parking Lot Regrading at Edmonton International Airport

July 26, 2024 –Edmonton Regional Airports Authority must decide whether the proposed Reservoir 1 Gravel Road Construction and Parking Lot Regrading Project located at the Edmonton International Airport is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, Edmonton Regional Airports Authority is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public [and may be posted online]. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Reservoir 1 Gravel Road Construction and Parking Lot Regrading Project will help improve long term performance for existing infrastructure at the Edmonton International Airport. The scope of work includes but not limited to: earthworks, regrading to improve drainage on the existing gravel parking lot as well as construction of a new gravel access road. The project's forecasted total area of work is approximately 2,250 square meters.

Notice of Determination

August 29, 2024 – Edmonton Regional Airport Authority has determined that the proposed Reservoir 1 Gravel Road Construction and Parking Lot Regrading project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • community knowledge;
  • comments received from the public; and
  • technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Edmonton Regional Airports Authority is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Therefore, Edmonton Regional Airports Authority may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part..
