Reconfigure Power Distribution at the Exercise Control Site

The Department of National Defence at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Suffield is to execute a project to connect CFB Suffield's Exercise Control (EXCON) site to 25kV utility power. This project will be coordinated with a separate project, in which FORTIS will be responsible for installing 25kV power lines from existing lines to the 25kV-to-120V/208 transformer at EXCON. The aim of this project is to install transformer pads and underground trenching for cables and to renovate the existing 13.8kV power distribution at EXCON to accept the 25kV power being supplied by FORTIS. Existing generators will be removed with the exception of one or more that will be kept as backups.

Latest update

January 4, 2024— The Department of National Defence issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
