The Design and Construction (Modified Design Build) of the New 4 Wing Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) Area– 4 Wing Cold Lake

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The scope of the Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) at Cold Lake includes the construction of a new, approximately 10,000 square meter facility with administrative and operations space and a hangar bay for aircraft. The QRA facility will also have an exterior fenced compound with parking, an apron, and a taxiway. Existing site services and stormwater management will be extended to tie into the new facility.


Latest update

November 6, 2025 – The public comment period on the project is closed. The Department of National Defence is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
