Upgrade Single Tower & New Fibre Installation

Upgrade (Single) Tower

Saskatchewan Telecommunications is proposing the addition of eight (8) antennas of 0.487 meter, in the 5 GHz frequency band, mounted at the top of the existing 106 meters and 34 meters towers which are located on Deer Ridge and Sturgeon Lake No.101 (Sturgeon Lake First Nation). The antennas will be installed to improve network access to high-speed Internet. In the future, the existing tower may have other antennas and other radiocommunication equipment added or replaced.

New Fibre Installation

Saskatchewan Telecommunications plans to install underground fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, to all residential homes of Hall Lake (Lac La Ronge), One Arrow First Nation, Montreal Lake No.106B (Montreal Lake), Mistawasis (Mistawasis Nêhiyawak), Sturgeon Lake No.101 (Sturgeon Lake First Nation), Black Lake, Fond du Lac No.227 (Fond du Lac) , Chitek Lake No.191 (Pelican Lake), Lac La Hache No.220 (Hatchet Lake), and Stony Rapids.

The project involves the installation of approximately 202 km of underground and aerial fiber optic cable from near Points North Landing along the Highway 905 to the entrance of Stony Rapids community.

The cable will be buried by directional drilling, trenching, or using existing conduits, or a combination of these methods in existing roadway alignments, but will be suspended on support structures to connect to residential homes and businesses.
