Flying Dust First Nation Regional Landfill

Flying Dust First Nation is proposing to construct a new regional landfill to service the community. The landfill will be situated approximately 7.5 km east of the Flying Dust First Nation's community core area, bounded by Highway 55 along the northern extents of the site. The project will include the construction of a new 4.5 hectare landfill cell (sized for 10 year capacity), 2.5 hectare leachate collection pond, recyclable and refuse materials transfer area, site roadways, and compost area. The project will also include support buildings, consisting of an entrance kiosk building with weigh scale and a maintenance building.


Latest update

July 4, 2024 – Indigenous Services Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting public comments until August 3, 2024 respecting that determination.
