Whitecap Dakota First Nation Community Drainage

Whitecap Dakota First Nation is proposing community wide structural mitigation works including channel construction, retention pond construction, modifications to existing ponds, flood protection berms,  widening of existing channels and mobile pumping equipment to facilitate drainage in the community.  Capacity to move up to 9.5 cubic meters per second during peak runoff and rainfall events through channels and storage of approximately 360,000 cubic meters to meet 1-in-100 year runoff events.

The proposed project will involve new permanent and upgrades to existing drainage channels.  Culverts and gated structures will be installed at pond outlets and to prevent backflow from river.  Mobile pumping units will be provided but will be equipped with generators and will not required permanant power.
