Sand and Gravel Permit - Fond du Lac Airport Resurfacing project

The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure (MHI) is planning to resurface the existing runways at the Fond du Lac Airport near Fond du Lac, Saskatchewan. To support this project, MHI requires sand and gravel to complete the resurfacing. Therefore, the Project includes the use of existing aggregate materials and the expansion of borrow pits near the Fond du Lac Airport. Most of the material will come from an existing pit located on provincial Crown land which is leased to MHI. However, the Project will also require approximately 9,000 tonnes of sand from one pit on Fond du Lac Denesuline First Nations land.  The Project will impact 0.30 hectares of less of land at this pit location. The pit is expected to be in use for the Project from July 2020 until September 2021.
