ATCO Spray River Replace

The Spray River Replacement Project will upgrade a section of the Banff Transmission Line between the Spray River crossing and Banff Gate Station to enable in-line inspection and improve maintenance. The river crossing will be replaced using horizontal directional drilling, while other sections will be installed by open-cut methods. A temporary steel bypass pipeline will maintain gas service during construction. The existing 1951 pipeline will be cleaned, grouted, capped, and abandoned in place. Access will be via the ATCO East Gate and green spaces near the Spray River golf course bridge. The project is located on lands managed by both Parks Canada Agency and the Town of Banff.
