Chippewas of Nawash Community Centre Renovations and Additions

Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation is completing a Community Centre Retrofit Project. This project will include the expansion to an existing building, replacement of the existing septic system, as well as a provisional item to complete the replacement of the parking lot. The community centre will include new ramps, barrier free door access hardware and an extension of the building's floor space to make room for a food bank to operate. 

The work will require the removal of any existing vegetation at the building expansion area and the excavation, decommissioning and removal of existing septic system. 

All works are being completed within Nawash First nation reserve land and involves the expansion of a building on a previously developed site, and replacement of existing infrastructure (i.e. no new expansion into undeveloped areas).

February 5, 2025 - Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause signifcant adverse environmental effects.
