Construction and Operation of a Transition Centre at CFB Borden, Ontario

The Department of National Defence (DND) proposes to construct and operate a new facility for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Transition Group to accommodate approximately 40 personnel, with a building estimated gross floor area of 1,389.9 m2. This facility will be located on Canadian Forces Base Borden, approximately 7 km south of Angus, Ontario. The CAF Transition Group was created in December 2018 and provides care for and supports ill and injured CAF personnel and their families. The CAF Transition Group will also operationalize transition for all departing members of the CAF and their families as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives outside the CAF. Construction is tentatively anticipated to begin in the Fall of 2022, with building use commencing in 2024.
