Gima Kwe Nong Dock Replacement

This project involves replacing the existing 2.4x9 meter wooden dock with a boulder crib at Emmett Lake, accessible via Gima Kwe Nong. The dock has reached the end of its life and is now a hazard. Given the current and expected use of Gima Kwe Nong, a replacement dock is necessary to maintain lake access and water interaction. After reviewing various options, including relocation and alternative material types, and assessing potential impacts, the proposal is to replace the deck structure of the dock with a similar one. The plan is to maintain the same length, width, and usage standards. The existing crib dock's boulder foundation, which is more than 40 years old, has become suitable habitat for fish, amphibians, plants, and snakes during all or various stages of their life cycles. The deteriorating wooden deck infrastructure will be manually removed and replaced with minimal disturbance to the boulder habitat below during appropriate timing windows to avoid and minimize impacts on various wildlife, including some species of conservation concern.
