Thornbury Harbour Fuel System Removal and Replacement - 2021

Thornbury Harbour, Thornbury, ON,  is a 250 berth facility located on the south end of Nottawasaga Bay at the mouth of the Beaver River. The harbour is non-core recreational facility owned by  Fisheries and Oceans Canada's (DFO) Small Craft Harbours Branch (SCH), managed by  the Town of the Blue Mountains. The Town intends on a contracting project to decommission and replace two (2) existing underground fuel tanks and replacing them with an aboveground tank system. The underground system being removed consists of one (1) 15,000L double-wall steel gasoline tank and one (1) 10,000L double-wall steel diesel fuel tank. The replacement aboveground system will consist of one (1) 15,000L double-wall steel gasoline tank and one (1) 10,000L double-wall steel diesel fuel tank. The fuel distribution system (pump islands, piping, and all other associated components) will be removed and replaced as part of this project.

March 8, 2021 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s Small Craft Harbour Branch has issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
