Installation of New Generator - 101 Colonel By Drive

The objective of this project is to demolish the old generators in room BS-076 and remove the current temporary generator and install a new permanent 1000Kw, 1,250 kVA, 347/600V standby generator in its place. The Generator will be one self-contained unit that includes a 2,500 L sub base fuel storage tank and a skin tight sound attenuated enclosure. The location of the new generator will be the same as the current temporary generator, outside of the building on the west side of the campus.

During this project, several environmental features could be impacted. Equipment use, failure, and malfunction may result in spills, necessitating an Environmental Emergency Response Plan. Adherence to specific standards during fuel system installation and removal is crucial to prevent environmental harm. Limiting vehicle and machinery movement and ensuring proper equipment maintenance are essential to prevent substance leakage. Prompt containment and cleaning of spills are required, while excavated soil mandates a Soil Management Plan. Compliance with regulations for hazardous waste disposal and fuel management is necessary, with any contaminant releases promptly reported. Urban wildlife and vegetation may be affected, necessitating nest scans and protection measures. Observing species at risk and migratory bird protections is crucial, with efforts made to minimize habitat disturbance. Additionally, adherence to relevant city by-laws on idling and noise control is imperative.
