East Block Exterior Lighting

The East Block, along with the Centre and West Blocks, is part of the core of Canada's Parliamentary Precinct. The East Block is one of the world's finest examples of High Victorian Gothic architecture. The East Block Exterior Lighting Project will improve nighttime façade illumination. It will also provide a modern energy efficient LED lighting components and controls for this iconic building in harmony with the exterior lighting at the West and the Centre Blocks. The new façade lighting, will be provided from a combination of new lighting fixtures in the landscape around the building perimeter and the balance of the new lighting fixtures discretely mounted to the building, e.g. along window ledges and on the roofs. The work is expected to start in summer 2022.
