New multipurpose path between the Samuel De Champlain Bridge and the T Sector in Brossard

The goal of the project is to connect the multipurpose path on the Samuel De Champlain
Bridge with the Route verte, which crosses a section of the Ville de Brossard. The
multipurpose path on the Samuel De Champlain Bridge provides Brossard and South
Shore residents with a new way to access the Island of Montreal via active transportation.
Cyclists and pedestrians must currently make a detour of approximately 3 km via Rome
Boulevard to reach the multipurpose path on the Samuel De Champlain Bridge.
The route of the proposed path through Parc de la Terre has been accepted by the Ville
de Brossard, by Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada (HICC), and by The
Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI).
For this project:
• JCCBI will be responsible for building the path to Tisserand Avenue.
• The Ville de Brossard will be responsible for connecting the path on Tisserand
Avenue.
Specifically, this multipurpose path project includes but is not limited to the
following work:
• Construction of a 1.051-km multipurpose path that will connect to the multipurpose
path on the Samuel De Champlain Bridge, starting at Tisserand Avenue in
Brossard.
• Construction of a two-span walkway that is 70 metres long and will cross the Hwy.
10 East ramp toward Hwy. 132 and the Hwy. 132 ramp toward Hwy. 10 East.
Work will start in spring 2025 and last until December 2025. The environment of the project
site mainly consists of open space and a great deal of infrastructure meant for public use,
such as a children's park (Parc de la Terre) and landscaped areas. Some areas near the
site may experience increased noise during the construction work. Traffic hindrances will
also be required while the walkway is being constructed.
The project includes a number of mitigation measures, such as the management of
invasive exotic plant species, dust control during excavation and transportation
operations, noise monitoring with sound level meters, and the optimization of traffic
hindrances.
