Replacement of the St. Jean Garrison gas station

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The project consists of removing seven underground storage tanks that have reached the end of their service life and replacing the old service station at the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Garrison with a new facility featuring two aboveground storage tanks, each with a capacity of 25,000 L.

Latest update

July 10, 2026 - The public comment period has been reopened as the scope of the original project has changed. 7 underground storage tanks will be removed instead of 2. The Department of National Defence intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, the Department of National Defence is inviting public comments until July 29, 2026 respecting that determination.
