Pond (reservoir) dredging and replacement of the shutoff valves of the fire suppression network supply system.

The pond located on the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) College (hereinafter referred to as the "College") property, located at 475 Grande-Ligne Road in Rigaud, was created in the early 1980s to serve as a water supply for the campus's private fire protection system.

Over the years, a layer of sediment has accumulated on the bottom of the pond, jeopardizing the proper operation of the inflow shut-off valves and fire pumps that supply the system. BSA has retained BGIS, through Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), to dredge the pond and replace the shut-off valves of the inflow the main line.

The work will include the staging of a work area and sediment dewatering area, sediment dredging, dewatering and management of dredged materials, beneficial reuse or disposal of the dredged materials depending on their physicochemical quality, and the replacement of the shut-off valves upstream to the pumping station.

August 25th, 2026 – The Canada Borders Services Agency intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, CBSA is inviting public comments until [September 25, 2026] respecting that determination.
