Algonquins of Pikwakanagan - Water Supply and Treatment System

The proposed project involves the construction of a slow sand filtration Water Treatment Plant (WTP) with a distribution system to service parts of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan community. This includes the detailed construction and alignment of all system components including an intake supply line from the Bonnechere River, construction of a water treatment plant and low lift station located at Lot 1-2 at the end of Chibekana Inamo road, and the distribution system to supply piped water with adequate fire flows to the Pikwakanagan community. The size of the WTP is 720m2, the size of the low lift station is 200m2 and the length of the Intake line is 125m. Approximately 13.3km of watermain will be installed along the community's roadside ditches in a Right of Way (ROW).

February 3, 2022 – Indigenous Services Canada issued its notice of determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
