Hydro One D6 Transmission Relocation Project

Hydro One Networks Inc. (HONI) proposes to relocate approximately 25 kilometres of the existing 115-kilovolt (kV) D6 transmission line between Chalk River Junction and Petawawa Junction as part of a broader transmission infrastructure renewal program (‘Project') for the region. The Project would involve activities on lands owned by Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL).

The relocation is necessary because a portion of the existing line traverses an active training area within the Department of National Defence Garrison Petawawa, adjacent to Chalk River Laboratories. To facilitate the relocation, the Project requires modification of the existing D6 transmission line located on AECL's site. This would involve the establishment of a new transmission corridor with an approximate footprint of 470 m × 30 m.

Latest update

06 November 2026.  Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, AECL is inviting public comments until December 6, 2026, respecting that determination.
