Silver Dart Metering Station Relocation NPS 6 Tie-In, Pipeline Abandonment and Existing Metering Station Demolition

This project involves the following:

Imperial Oil Resources Limited (Imperial Oil) is proposing the construction of a short pipeline tie-in, abandonment of an existing pipeline segment, and demolition of an existing metering station associated with the relocation of the Silver Dart Metering Station at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario.

The Project is situated within a highly developed industrial and transportation corridor on Toronto Pearson International Airport lands near Silver Dart Drive in Mississauga, Ontario. The Project site occurs within an existing airport fuel distribution and tank farm area characterized by paved roadways, existing fuel infrastructure, utility corridors, airport facilities, maintained grassed areas, and previously disturbed lands. The work is contained within existing operational areas and does not require expansion into undeveloped or natural areas.

Imperial Oil's scope consists of connecting the new facility (constructed by other Posting Reference number:90009) to the existing SPPL pipeline, decommissioning the existing facility, and abandoning the redundant section of pipeline between the two metering stations (the Project). Project activities include:

Construction of New 6-inch Pipeline Tie-in

  • Excavation and trenching; installation of approximately 12 m of NPS 6 steel pipe; backfilling, site restoration; and commissioning of the new connection.

Decommission and abandon in place an existing pipeline segment approximately 371 m located between the existing and new metering station locations.

  • Isolation and drainage of the redundant pipeline segment; cleaning and preparation; capping and permanent abandonment of the pipeline segment.

Demolition and Removal of Existing Silver Dart Metering Station which occupies an area of approximately 230 m²

  • Decommissioning and isolation of equipment; removal of above-ground piping, underground/buried surge tank, valves, instrumentation and metering equipment; removal of electrical and control systems; removal of selected foundations and ancillary infrastructure as required; and grading and restoration of disturbed areas.
