East De-icing Apron Facility Expansion

Calgary Glycol Facilities Corporation (CGFC) is the owner of the infrastructure at existing East De-Icing Apron facility at Calgary International Airport.  CGFC is proposing an expansion of the East De-Icing Apron facility through the construction of a new apron and associated infrastructure immediately south of the existing East De-Icing Apron facility, near 7910 McCall Way North East. The proposed project is intended to accommodate increasing aircraft de-icing demand and support future airport growth.

The proposed project will add approximately 83,000 square meters of apron area to the existing 110,000 square meters of apron area at the East De-Icing Apron facility. The proposed project will include the construction of three new de-icing bays, upgraded stormwater and subdrain systems, additional airfield electrical infrastructure, lighting, and associated grading, drainage, and utility improvements. Any required soil remediation will be completed, as needed. The expansion will generally mirror the existing East De-Icing Apron layout while increasing operational capacity and enhancing glycol capture and management through the apron drainage system, tying into existing downstream infrastructure for glycol recovery, treatment, recycling, and disposal.
