ATCO Pipeline 1165 - Ext (60 PE) Kainai Administration Building

ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. is planning to install 100 meters of 60 millimeter diameter polyethylene gas main and 65 meters of 42 millimeter gas service line at Blood Tribe. The new distribution gas main will accommodate a proposed new administration building in Standoff adjacent to the Kainai Wellness Center. The proposed gas line will be installed at a depth of 0.8 to 1.2 meters and will be tied into the existing gas main. The proposed methods of installation will include trenching, as well as horizontal directional drilling and use of hydrovac when required. 

 

Construction will include removal of topsoil, installation of gas main, back filling, re-grading, reclamation, and flaring of the gas to ensure the gas line has 100 percent gas in it.

 

No vegetation clearing is proposed and the project is not located within 30 meters of any waterbodies or wetlands. Wildlife species at risk are not anticipated to be present in the project construction area. A wildlife and nest sweep will be completed prior to construction.

End of Public Comment Period

September 17, 2026 - The public period on the project is closed. Indigenous Services Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
