Stoney East & West Morley Waterline and Cistern Project

Stoney Nakoda Nation intends to expand their east and west watermain distribution systems at Morley and install 7 new cisterns at residences along the west alignment. The proposed project area extends on the west side of Morley (Lubieth Rd and Long Knife Rd) and the eastern portion of the project extends along East MÎnÎ ThnÎ Rd. The proposed project will involve the installation of a new west gravity watermain distribution system, a new pressurized east watermain distribution system, a new NE gravity watermain distribution system, and 7 new cisterns. The planned method of watermain installation is open cut trenching which will take place primarily adjacent to roadways.


Latest update

April 12, 2024 – Indigenous Services Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting public comments Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (iaac-aeic.gc.ca) until May 13, 2024 respecting the determination.
