Lamont Railcar Storage Project

Alberta Midland Rail Terminal Ltd. proposes to construct, operate and decommission a new railcar storage facility, located approximately three kilometres northwest of Lamont, Alberta. As proposed, the Lamont Railcar Storage Project would consist of 21 rail tracks - 16 for the storage of railcars, and 5 for operational use. The project would have a total track length of 21.6 kilometres and allow the proponent to store and switch up to 850 railcars at any given time. Once constructed, the facility would also be operated and maintained by Canadian Northern Plains Rail Services Ltd. Alberta Midland Rail Terminal Ltd. would remain the owner of the facility.

March 31, 2016 - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency issued its environmental assessment determination and decided that an environmental assessment of the designated project is not required.
