Beacon AI Centers Indus Project

Indus Power is proposing to construct, operate and decommission a new power-generating facility fueled by natural gas, located about two kilometres northwest of Indus, Alberta. As proposed, the project would include 100 natural gas reciprocating engine generators organized into modules, exhaust treatment systems, and air-cooled radiators, and would have a production capacity of about 1,494 megawatts to support a new data centre. The project is expected to operate for 25 years.

February 5, 2026 — The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada issued the Summary of Issues to the proponent for the preparation of its response to the Summary of Issues and Detailed Project Description, if required. Also, the funding application period is now closed. IAAC is reviewing the funding applications.
