Highway 101 Twinning Phase II Aboiteau and Bridges Project

The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal is proposing to twin and upgrade approximately 9.5 kilometres of an existing two-lane section of Highway 101. The upgrades also include constructing bridges over the Avon River and a new tidal gate structure (aboiteau) to control tidal flow. The proposed project is located in Hants County between Three Mile Plains and Falmouth, Nova Scotia.

November 5, 2021 — The Minister of Environment and Climate Change has determined that the Highway 101 Twinning Phase II Aboiteau and Bridges Project proposed by the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Active Transit (formerly The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal) does not warrant designation under the Impact Assessment Act. The reasons for the Minister’s determination are provided in the Minister’s response.
