Proposed Wharf Construction - 1233 Shore Drive, Halifax

The proposed project involves reconstructing a failing crib wharf by replacing it with a 12'x20' timber pile wharf. Construction will be carried out using a barge-mounted crane, with timber piles driven into the seafloor first. This work will be scheduled during low tide to allow the contractor to inspect the seafloor for fish and other marine life. The property currently includes a ramp and floating docks, which will be reinstalled upon project completion. If the existing structure continues to deteriorate, it will contribute an increasing amount of debris to the seafloor. The new wharf will eliminate potential hazardous materials and reduce the seafloor footprint by over 90%.
