Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination

 

August 7, 2024 - Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada (formerly Infrastructure Canada) must determine whether the proposed project, Abegweit's Community Recreation Centre, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

 

To help inform this determination, Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public [and may be posted online]. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website (https://iaac-aeic.gc.ca/050/evaluations/Protection?culture=en-CA).

The Proposed Project:

 

Abegweit's Community Recreation Centre will be an inclusive, publicly accessible, climate resilient, net-zero community building in Scotchfort, Prince Edward Island. The building will be a 1 198m2 addition to Abegweit's newly constructed 591m2 commercial centre. The building will accommodate various community events, sports programs, and cultural activities, and serve as a warming centre for the region. The building will include a gymnasium, walking track, kitchen, multicultural room, fitness centre, swim spa, and flex space.
