North Lake Dredge Zone Expansion

Dredging of the entrance channel at North Lake Harbour is required every spring, and typically again in the fall. The entrance channel infills regularly due to the eddying effects of the breakwater, causing sand to circulate into the run from the eastern direction. DFO-SCH is proposing to dig a "sandtrap" on the east side of the entrance channel in order to intercept the sand before it enters the entrance channel and run. In order to accommodate the new sandtrap, the dredge zone boundaries must be expanded. An area measuring 30m wide by 250m long will be appended to the eastern boundary of the currently approved dredge zone.
