Well Installation at Loggiecroft Wharf

The drilling of a new well is currently being assessed for installation for the Loggiecroft Wharf located in Kouchibouguac National Park. The previous well was damaged and contaminated due to the dumping of polluted sediment around the wellhead following channel dredging. The new well will be constructed across the roadway, approximately 80-100 meters from the previous well location. New piping will also be installed and will run under the road to the main building on site providing running water for bathroom facilities and eliminating the need for portable restrooms (i.e. porta-potties).

Work is set to take place in late 2024 or early 2025, preferably outside the fishing season. An area approximately 30'x45' has been identified and surveyed to clear. Vegetation removal and ground disturbance will be necessary for access and installation. However, the area has been assessed for cultural resources and sensitive/rare vegetation and there is no expected impact to archaeological features or sensitive flora and fauna.
