Rehabilitation of Ruisseau-Leblanc Harbour, Gaspé Peninsula
This is a non-designated project on federal lands or outside Canada. The listed authorities are responsible for the project assessment.
As part of its harbour divestiture program, this project consists of the upgrading of the Ruisseau-Leblanc Harbour structures to meet the needs of the purchaser. More specifically, the project consists of the partial demolition of the existing structure and its consolidation with riprap. In addition, the configuration of the harbour will be modified by relocating the east entrance to the south to reduce silting problems. The work includes riprap for the timber and concrete wharf, dredging of a channel, installation of a line of pontoons behind the breakwater, construction of a pedestrian walkway on the main breakwater and extension of the east breakwater.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Small Craft Harbours has issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
· impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
· Indigenous knowledge;
· community knowledge;
· comments received from the public; and
· technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.
The authorities are satisfied that the project is unlikely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Mitigation measures will be taken for several elements of the environment including: air, water, fish and avian fauna.
Consequently, the project can proceed.
