Construction of a storage facility on Terminal 3 at the Port of Belledune

Project consists in the construction of a new 4647 m2 wood pellet storage facility on Terminal 3 at the Port of Belledune to increase cargo-handling capacity in response to wood pellet sector growth in New Brunswick destined for export markets.

Notice of Determination

Moncton, NB – September 2, 2020 – Public Services and Procurement Canada’s (PSPC) Environmental Services, on behalf of the Atlantic Canada Opportunity Agency (ACOA), has reviewed the Environmental Assessment Report prepared for the proposed construction of the new facility at the Port of Belledune, located in Belledune, New Brunswick, to support ACOA’s requirements under Section 82 of the Impact Assessment Act. The report concluded that the Project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

ACOA is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Environmental effects that are within provincial jurisdiction would be addressed through provincial regulations. Therefore, the authorities may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
