Reconstruction of Wharf 402 - Mont-Louis Harbour, Gaspésie
The reconstruction of Wharf 402 is required due to the significant deterioration of exposed timber components and bolted connections.
The structure has also experienced settlement in recent years, resulting in the wharf face beginning to tilt. This situation presents safety risks for vessels moored at the wharf and for personnel working on the structure.
Constructed in 1959 using creosote-treated timber, the wharf has exceeded its useful service life and partial repairs are not considered a viable option to extend its lifespan.

Reconstruction of Wharf 402 at Mont-Louis Harbour, Gaspésie
September 22, 2026 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Small Craft Harbors (SCH) and Transport Canada – Navigation Protection Program (TC) intend to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To support an informed determination, SCH and TC invite the public to provide comments on this determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.
