Arnaud Mining Project

Projects that were undergoing a comprehensive study at the time the provisions of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 came into force will continue to follow the requirements of the former Act. Under the former Act, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is responsible for conducting the comprehensive study of this project.

Mine Arnaud Inc. is proposing the construction, operation and decommissioning of an approximately 1.2 million tonnes a year apatite concentrate mine with an operating life of 31 years. The proposed project includes an open-pit mine, an ore processing plant, and overburden, waste rock and tailings containment and storage areas, including a cell for waste titaniferous magnetite, a by-product of the ore processing. The project will also involve moving an approximately 8 km section of railway track at the mine site and building and using storage, handling and loading facilities at the Port of Sept-Îles.
