Overhead Electrical Line Vegetation Clearing

Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site proposes to permit Nova Scotia Power and its vegetation management contractors to clear vegetation (trees and shrubs) along the existing overhead electrical line rights-of-way, spanning a distance of approximately 22 km, within the park. This work must be completed periodically to prevent vegetation from contacting the energized conductors. Vegetation contacting electrical wires is a cause of power outages, a hazard to visitors and park staff and a potential ignition source for forest fires. This project will be assessed by a basic impact assessment.
