Upgrade Compound D61 (4 ESR) – 5 CDSB Gagetown, NB

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The project involves the development of a new purpose built equipment storage compound for 4 Engineer Support Regiment (4 ESR) at 5 Canadian Division Support Base (5 CDSB) Gagetown. Work includes site grading, drainage improvements, subgrade preparation, and construction of a durable gravel hardstand capable of supporting heavy military engineer vehicles and equipment. The project will also incorporate circulation routes, turning areas, security lighting, and a designated Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) storage area to support safe, efficient, and compliant equipment parking and operations. Approximate affected area of construction is 44,000 m2.

September 23, 2026 - The Department of National Defence intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, the Department of National Defence is inviting public comments until October 12, 2026 respecting that determination.
