Lake Manitoba First Nation - CHRT41 FNCFS Prevention Centre

The scope of this project is to design and build a new prevention center in the east-central part of the community. The location is currently undeveloped, with plans to build a new school immediately north of the proposed site. The new space will be composed of a gymnasium, games room, visiting and programming spaces, as well as wellness and leisure areas. This project includes its water and wastewater. design and construction. The water service will involve the installation of an underground water well. The wastewater service will involve connection to the existing sewer. driveway and parking lot construction, building construction and facility construction. Waste Generation: Solid–All solid waste that cannot be reused will be disposed of to the community landfill or other permitted landfill. *as* appropriate. Local waste management facilities are located approximately 2.13 km north of the proposed site. The equipment will emit exhaust gases and particulate matter. Maintain construction equipment in good working order and operate equipment only when necessary, will minimize emissions. Hazardous Materials – Fuel and/or other substances that may be required on site during The construction will be properly labeled and contained to prevent spillage or misuse. Spill kits will be kept on site at all times. Liquid best management practices will be used during construction to prevent erosion and sedimentation of adjacent water bodies. The proposed area is relatively flat. Past Land Uses: The proposed site is located on land that was previously used as pasture. There were no livestock either. as damaged fences at the time of the site visit. Current Land Uses: There are three muddy bog pits immediately south of the proposed site. No soil stains or water reflections found during site visit. The site is more than 400 m from an active and/or closed waste site. The site is located more than 400 m from a lagoon. The site is located more than 400 m from a bulk fuel site.

June 17, 2024 – Indigenous Services Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting public comments until July 17, 2024 respecting that determination.
