Naawi Oodena Urban Reserve – Block D Phase 1-2

The Naawi Oodena Urban Reserve Project involves the construction of enabling infrastructure to support the development of Block D, Phase 1-2, which will include a multi-unit residential building (with 65% of housing dedicated for occupancy of Indigenous people), mixed-used office and commercial spaces (strip mall, grocery store, restaurants), green spaces and recreational facilities. The Project forms part of T1N's broader strategy to lead development outcomes, generate predictable own-source revenues, and create long-term infrastructure that supports housing, employment, commercial development and community building.

Latest update

The Canada Infrastructure Bank has determined that the proposed project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

 This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • relevant potential environmental effects;
  • comments received from the public; and
  • The implementation of technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Mitigation and monitoring measures taken into account for this determination included active and adaptive management measures that would be implemented for the protection of the local environment. Based on the consideration of these measures, the Canada Infrastructure Bank is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Therefore, the Canada Infrastructure Bank may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
