The Proposed Project

Winnipeg Airports Authority proposes to undertake the 2023 YWG Airfield Improvements Project at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport. The project area is entirely on developed lands that have supported continuous airport operations since 1928.

The project is for the rehabilitation of airfield infrastructure including partial depth mill and asphalt overlay of Apron I north taxilane, partial depth mill and asphalt overlay of Taxiway C, partial realignment and reconstruction on Taxiway H, and widening and resurfacing of the airport's Intersite Road.

The project is principally pavement lifecycle rehabilitation works to include partial depth removal and construction of asphalt pavement surfaces, new pavement structure construction, landscape restorations, pavement sub drainage repairs and modifications. The taxiway edge lighting will be removed and replaced with new LED fixtures and new LED backlit aircraft guidance signage.

The project will allow for improved conditions, safety and efficient movement for aircraft, vehicles, and equipment on the airfield. Improvements incorporated into design will be compliant with updated aerodrome standards.

The proposed project will have staged construction with an anticipated 5 month duration to be completed in 2023.
