St. Andrews Lock and Dam Bridge Deck Replacement

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) is undertaking a project for the design and construction for the complete replacement of the main span traffic bridge deck, as well as the partial depth rehabilitation of the approach span traffic bridge decks of St. Andrews Lock and Dam (SALD). The project also includes waterproofing and paving the entire bridge deck, recoating and reinforcing of select structural steel members, removing the load posting on the bridge, and making the structure compliant with the current version of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code. The sidewalk will be re-constructed to meet Transportation Association of Canada and Manitoba Infrastructure requirements, and accessible walkways will be constructed on each side of the bridge to access the sidewalk. No in-water work is expected to occur. The design is scheduled for completion by December 2020, and construction estimated to begin in Spring 2021. Construction completion is estimated for Fall 2022.
