Potential Regional Assessment of the Trans-Canada Highway Improvement Project

The Minister of the Environment, Climate Change and Nature received a request for a regional assessment of the Trans-Canada Highway Improvement Project, located in Ontario and in Manitoba. The proposed regional assessment would aim to gather information on the adverse effects of the twinning of the Trans-Canada Highway from Kenora, Ontario to the Whiteshell Provincial Park, Manitoba.

June 30, 2026 — The Minister of the Environment, Climate Change and Nature has decided that a regional assessment of the Trans-Canada Highway Improvement Project is not warranted under the Impact Assessment Act. The reasons for the decision are provided in the Minister's response.
