Frith Beach Road Realignment

Frith Beach Road in Riding Mountain National Park has been suffering erosive effects from Clear Lake. The road is in danger of serious impact and intervention (ex. relocation of the road alignment) is required. The proposed new road will be a two-lane public access gravel road, approximately 800 metres in length. The total road platform including both lanes and shoulders will be approximately 10 metres wide before side slopes and ditches. Activities will include clearing of vegetation, excavation to create positive drainage and a suitable road base and addition of granular material. Drainage infrastructure such as culverts may be required based on site conditions. Equipment required will include excavators, dump trucks, loaders, graders and hand tools. The precise road alignment and associated footprint are still being determined, as public safety standards need to be met while simultaneously minimizing impacts to natural and cultural resources.
